Luxury Lingerie Firm Boudiche Forced into Closure
Luxury Scottish lingerie brand Boudiche was launched just five years ago in 2005, initially proving to be hugely popular and experiencing a great deal of early success.
Unfortunately, however, that success has proved to be short-lived, as the high-end lingerie firm has now gone into administration.
This sudden turn of events has come to a huge shock to many who loved the lingerie produced by the brand, especially as many believed that Boudiche was fast becoming one of the most popular lingerie brands in Scotland.
But as we all know, appearances can be deceiving and despite seeming to flourish, according to a number of different sources, Boudiche has actually experienced a 40% drop in custom in the last 16 months.
Many people involved with the company, including co-founder Clare Thommsen, have blamed the much discussed Edinburgh tram development for the steep drop-off in customers to the brand’s vital Frederick Street branch.
Redevelopment has meant that there has been considerable upheaval directly outside the store, making it difficult for customers to enter and causing a drop in sales.
Thommsen and fellow co-founder Fiona McLean are said to be currently looking for investors who will help them to buy back the company and see it live up to its initial promise.
