Alexander McQueen’s Final Collection
Iconic fashion designer Alexander McQueen, who passed away in February of 2010, is leaving behind one more contribution to his lasting legacy: a line of men’s underwear. Set to launch in June of this year, the collection of boxer shorts and briefs is a part of the final collection Alexander McQueen was putting together in the months before his death. This innovative assortment of men’s underwear features McQueen’s signature skull prints, as well as feather prints and other retro-inspired touches.
In addition to men’s underwear, McQueen’s final collection will also feature sleepwear and loungewear. Seasonal fashion trends for fall and winter will be marketed in 2010. The final pieces of Alexander McQueen’s last collection will make an appearance in 2011—a swimwear line.
Alexander McQueen has been an influential voice in the world of fashion design for over a decade, surprising the world with innovative styles and a thoroughly outside-the-box perspective. His 2010 collection featured reptilian-inspired prints, complete with makeup and styling reminiscent of aliens.
Receiving numerous awards and honours throughout his short career, Alexander MdQueen was given the Designer Of The Year award by the British Fashion Awards four times. Most notably, he was honoured by Queen Elizabeth II in 2003 for his extraordinary contributions to the world of fashion.
Alexander McQueen’s tragic death at the age of 40 has only brought additional notice to the artistic genius and courageous sense of innovative design he brought to the fashion world for over a decade. While his presence will be missed, his legacy and his influence live on.
